Tokyo is now trying to enter the competition with the construction of the Tokyo Sky Tree.

I think the Japanese government are kind of fed up with wasteful government spending. Warmer weather in Tokyo will see the cherry blossoms bloom this week. It will be at least 10 days earlier than average, according to officials.
